Hepburn roofing

Not every Hepburn roof needs replacing. We handle repairs across Hepburn and the surrounding area, as soon as a crew and the weather allow. The key is finding the real source of a leak instead of patching the spot that happens to look wet, because water travels before it shows up on your ceiling.

We repair wind-lifted and missing shingles, cracked or pulled flashing around chimneys and vents, leaks at valleys and skylights, ice-dam damage at the eaves, and worn pipe boots. Hepburn sits in the same central-Saskatchewan hail belt and freeze-thaw zone as the rest of the corridor, with the May-to-September storm season bringing hail and wind risk and heavy prairie snow load through winter.

If your Hepburn roof is generally sound and the damage is local, a repair is the right call and we will tell you so. If it is near the end of its life and the repairs are stacking up, we will lay out the honest math so you can decide. No scare tactics, just what we would do on our own house. A small, established prairie town - mostly older single-family homes carrying aging roofs, with a thin layer of newer builds from its recent growth.

Every repair is backed by our workmanship the same way a full roof is. We trace the leak to its source, fix the cause, and make sure the repair blends in so you are not left looking at a patch.

A lot of Hepburn repair calls come right after a storm, when a few shingles let go or flashing pulled loose in the wind. Those are worth handling quickly, because an open spot lets water into the deck and the attic, and a small fix today is far cheaper than a rotted roof deck next spring. If you are not sure whether the damage is worth an insurance claim, we will tell you that too, honestly, after we have actually looked.

Why does it matter that a roofer actually knows Hepburn? An early-1900s railroad town. When the line closed in 1989 it stranded three grain elevators; one survives as the Museum of Wheat, a 1928 Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator. (Bethany College, a Mennonite Brethren school, operated here until 2015.) Hepburn counted 276 private dwellings at the 2021 census with 268 of them occupied, on 1.14 square kilometres. The town's housing is genuinely mixed, because the population passed 800 before the 1930s, fell under 300 by the end of that decade and has been rebuilt in stages ever since, most recently in the 14% growth to 2021. Age has to be established building by building here, and we do that rather than guessing from the street. Knowing the age of the housing and the way storms track across this part of Saskatchewan is what tells us how to spec your roof. We reach Hepburn 45 km north of Saskatoon via Hwy 12 and Hwy 375.

Local repair picture

What we repair on Hepburn roofs

Hepburn is unusual for a town of 784 people because its housing comes from three separate eras. There are buildings from the pre-1930s peak when the population was over 800, there is the post-war rebuild after the town had fallen under 300, and there is recent construction from the 14% growth between 2016 and 2021. Each era fails differently.

The oldest roofs need decking and flashing work, the post-war stock is usually a ventilation and eaves problem, and the newest is storm damage or nothing at all. There were three grain elevators in Hepburn when the province shut the rail line down in 1989. Two were torn down and one was kept and converted, which is roughly how the town has treated its buildings generally: what is worth keeping gets kept and worked on.

That shows up in the roofs we are asked to repair, because a lot of them are on houses that have already been carefully maintained for decades rather than run to failure. Those are the ones where a proper repair is genuinely the right answer.

FAQs

Hepburn roof repair questions

Can you find a leak in my Hepburn home even if the damage is hidden?
Usually yes. Water enters at one point and shows up at another, so on a Hepburn roof we work back from the stain to the real entry point. Tracing it properly is what keeps a leak fixed.
How fast can you repair a roof in Hepburn?
It depends on the roof and the weather. We book the free Hepburn inspection first, then schedule the repair as soon as a crew is free. After a storm we move faster, because further water damage does not wait.
Do your Hepburn roof repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind a Hepburn repair the same way we stand behind a full roof.

Certifications, accreditation and partners behind our Hepburn work

GAF

W Contracting is a GAF Certified contractor. We install GAF systems with the GAF Timberline HDZ shingle as our workhorse, and every install carries a 10-year workmanship warranty.

HAAG

We are HAAG Certified, so storm damage gets inspected the way an adjuster inspects it, and cosmetic marks get told apart from bruising that shortens a roof’s life.

Better Business Bureau

W Contracting Roofing is a BBB Accredited Business with an A rating, listed at 563 5th Ave N, Saskatoon.

Financeit

Our financing runs through Financeit, so a roof can be spread over monthly payments instead of paid all at once.
