We had a leaky roof and what we thought was going to be a total nightmare and financial disaster turned out to be a relaxing, stress-free and affordable process. Nathan kept communication going and was patient and knowledgeable when I was choosing shingles. We were so impressed we didn't bother getting quotes from other companies. It's W Contracting all the way!
We were fortunate to find W Contracting when we needed a roof replacement. An earlier company kept saying they'd start in a few days and then never showed up. Nathan and his crew were methodical and willing to do the little extras a shingling job requires. Prompt, quick, thorough, and left the site very tidy. A very solid 10 out of 10.
We had Nathan out for a hail estimate and the service was nothing short of remarkable. The estimate he provided, along with his knowledge and advice, was so thorough that even my insurance adjuster took note. I highly recommend W Contracting for all your roofing needs!
We had new shingles put on our home and had a very positive experience with Nathan and his crew. They have a great selection of shingles to choose from and a great warranty. Thank you for treating our home well and making the roof look great.
From repairing the roof, installing new shingles, clean-up and competitive pricing, they were professional and efficient in every step. Would trust them to do a roof anytime and will recommend them to everyone we know.
Nathan came out at 3 am to re-tarp my roof after the tarp was torn off in a storm. They did a fantastic job with everything, including clean up. I would fully recommend them. 5 plus stars.
Nathan was fast and efficient fixing my rain gutter after it blew down during the night! Very friendly, would definitely recommend.
Would recommend Nathan and his team to anyone looking for a quality roof job. They were very accommodating with my time frame, budget and the nature of the job. Left the site clean and tidy. A+
Local roofers
Serving the Saskatoon community
Local expertise you can trust
We know Saskatoon, from Nutana and Riversdale to Stonebridge and Evergreen, and we build to Saskatchewan code for our climate. Spans early-1900s heritage homes (steeper pitches, dormers) through 1960s-80s bungalows to large new-build subdivisions. Many 1990s-2000s suburbs are now hitting the 20-25 year first-replacement window. Asphalt shingle dominant.
Built for Saskatoon's weather
The August 2025 system put 10,000+ lightning strikes over the city in a day; severe prairie thunderstorms here regularly produce plow winds (downbursts up to EF2, strong enough to lift a roof) and hail. Our roofing systems are built for it: ice and water shield at the eaves, full underlayment, GAF shingles, and proper ventilation so your home stays protected year-round.
Local challenges
Common roofing challenges in Saskatoon, SK
Saskatoon holds 115,619 private dwellings across a river valley in plant hardiness zone 3b, and that combination decides most of what we get called out for.
Ice damming and heavy snow load
Aging roofs in the older river-side neighbourhoods
Summer storm and hail damage
Attic ventilation under 2,350 hours of sun
Eavestroughs on a river-valley grade
We fix the cause rather than the wet spot, so your Saskatoon home stays protected.
Our community
All about Saskatoon, SK
Founded 1883 as a Methodist temperance colony, named after the saskatoon berry. Today Saskatoon is home to about 266,141 people. Potash (Nutrien HQ), uranium (Cameco HQ), agriculture, University of Saskatchewan, growing tech sector. Delta Bessborough ('the Castle on the River'), the Meewasin Trail along the South Saskatchewan River, nine bridges.
The city straddles a bend in the South Saskatchewan River and sits in the aspen parkland, in plant hardiness zone 3b, with 115,619 private dwellings counted in the 2021 census.

The city began in 1882 when the Toronto-based Temperance Colonization Society was granted 21 sections of land straddling the river between what is now Warman and Dundurn, and the first settlers arrived the following year under John Neilson Lake. The Meewasin Valley Authority now protects the South Saskatchewan River corridor running through the middle of it. Roofs along that corridor sit in the most exposed part of the city, with the river's own wind funnel and no built-up shelter on the valley side.
From Nutana and Riversdale to Stonebridge and Evergreen, a solid roof matters here, because Saskatchewan weather does not let a worn one slide. W Contracting serves Saskatoon with honest assessments, clean job sites, and a 10-year workmanship warranty on every roof we install, from emergency leak repairs to full replacements.
Repair or replace? How to tell on a Saskatoon roof
| Situation | A repair usually makes sense | Replacement is the call |
|---|---|---|
| Roof age | Under ~15 years, plenty of life left | Near or past its rated lifespan |
| Damage extent | Local: a few shingles, one leak, one flashing | Widespread bruising, multiple leaks, bald spots |
| Leak history | First leak, easy to trace | Recurring leaks in different spots |
| Insurance / storm | Minor, below your deductible | Storm damage that qualifies for an SGI claim |
| Cost over time | One fix solves it | Repairs are stacking up year over year |

Who stands behind the work
Certifications, accreditation and partners behind our Saskatoon work
GAF
W Contracting is a GAF Certified contractor. We install GAF systems with the GAF Timberline HDZ shingle as our workhorse, and every install carries a 10-year workmanship warranty.
HAAG
We are HAAG Certified, so storm damage gets inspected the way an adjuster inspects it, and cosmetic marks get told apart from bruising that shortens a roof’s life.
Better Business Bureau
W Contracting Roofing is a BBB Accredited Business with an A rating, listed at 563 5th Ave N, Saskatoon.
Financeit
Our financing runs through Financeit, so a roof can be spread over monthly payments instead of paid all at once.
