Founded 1883 as a Methodist temperance colony, named after the saskatoon berry. Today Saskatoon is home to about 266,141 people. Potash (Nutrien HQ), uranium (Cameco HQ), agriculture, University of Saskatchewan, growing tech sector. The city began in 1882 when the Toronto-based Temperance Colonization Society was granted 21 sections of land straddling the river between what is now Warman and Dundurn, and the first settlers arrived the following year under John Neilson Lake.
